Start a course
A course is your learning path for one subject. Start with the thing you want to be able to do, not the perfect course name.
Before you start
What you need
- A TeachNow account.
- One subject you want to explore or improve.
- A simple goal, such as “understand fractions” or “build my first Python program”.
What you will have
- A course plan with lessons in order.
- A first lesson ready to open.
- A dashboard you can return to later.
Choose a subject
From the dashboard, select New Course. Choose the broad subject first, then choose a topic. If your exact subject is not listed, choose Otherand describe it in your own words.
Check the plan
Lumi shows the course plan before learning begins. Read the module and lesson titles. A module is a group of related lessons. The plan should move from basic ideas toward the goal you chose.
Begin
Start the first lesson when the plan looks right. TeachNow saves your place, so you can stop and return from the dashboard whenever you need to.
For teachers
Help the learner choose a goal they can explain in one sentence. Avoid choosing the whole course for them. A good first question is: “What would you like to be able to do after a few lessons?” For more support ideas, read For teachers: help a learner.
