Payments: who pays?
An adult learning alone buys from their own account. For a family, the parent buys from the parent account and links the children to it.
Who pays, and which account should be signed in?

Do I have to pay during signup?
No. Creating an account and giving parental permission do not require a payment. The trial lets you try learning before choosing a paid subscription. Check Pricing for the current trial length, included features, and limits.
You do not enter payment details to create an account. Giving permission for a child also does not buy a subscription.
Adult or parent: check the account
Learning on your own? Sign in to your learner account.
Paying for your children? Sign in to your parent account. Open Parent Dashboard → Snapshot and check that the right children appear. Then open Pricing.
Adult or parent: choose a plan
- Read what each plan includes. Choose the plan that fits the learning you need.
- Choose Monthly or Yearly where offered. A yearly price may be displayed as a monthly equivalent: check the billing period and full amount before paying.
- If you have a Discount code, enter it and select Apply before continuing. Check that it was accepted for your selected plan.
- Select the plan's purchase button to open payment.
Adult or parent: complete payment
TeachNow opens the payment provider. India plans use Razorpay and INR; other countries use Stripe and USD. Review the currency, taxes, total, and renewal details before approving payment.
The adult or parent enters the payment details and approves the charge. A subscription is a repeating payment for the billing period you choose.
After payment, return to TeachNow. You may see Payment received while the provider finishes confirming the subscription. Allow it to update, then check the plan shown in Profile.
Child: return to your own account
Once the parent's plan is active, the linked child signs in to their own account and opens their learning. They do not need to use the parent's login or buy another subscription to use the shared tutoring allowance.
Children under 13 use Under-13 sign in with their code and password. Learners aged 13–17 use ordinary sign-in with their own email or Google/Meta account.
How does the family share a plan?
A linked child can use the parent's active paid subscription. Lumi tutoring time comes from one shared allowance for the parent and the linked children using that plan.
- Separate progress: each child's courses and learning progress stay in their own account.
- An active parent plan is needed: linking to a free parent account does not give a child a paid plan or share the parent's trial. The child's own access limits still apply.
- A child already has a paid subscription: their own active subscription is used for tutoring first. Linking accounts does not cancel that subscription. Check existing payments before buying another plan.
- Extra tutoring time: if TeachNow offers a Lumi top-up, it is a one-time purchase of extra tutoring hours. For a shared family plan, have the parent handle it from the parent account.
If payment or access looks wrong
- You paid, but the plan has not appeared: allow time for confirmation, refresh, and check that you are in the account used for payment. Do not immediately pay again.
- The parent has a plan, but a child is still blocked: check the child is linked to that parent, parental permission is complete, and the shared tutoring allowance has time left.
- Changing or ending a subscription: use the account that bought it. Where offered, open Pricing to see the plan controls. India subscriptions can show Downgrade to free at cycle end. If the control you need is unavailable, ask TeachNow for help before starting another subscription.
- A teacher's class asks for another payment: a paid Study Circle can have its own enrollment fee. Check that class's price and what is included; buying a Lumi plan does not automatically pay every teacher's class fee.
