Parents and children
The parent handles permission and family payments. The child learns in their own account. The steps depend on the child’s age.
One parent account. A separate account for each child.
For example, a parent with two children has three accounts: one for the parent and one for each child. This keeps each child's courses and progress separate.

Choose the right path: Under 13 or Ages 13–17.
Parent: create your own account
- Open parent signup. This link already selects the parent path. If you start from ordinary signup instead, choose Parent.
- Check Country, then select Next.
- Use your own Google/Meta account, or sign up with your own email and password.
- Open the Parent Dashboard and select Learner tools.
Already have a parent account? Choose Sign in and use it. You can manage multiple children from the same parent account.
If your child is under 13
1. Parent: create the child's account
- Stay signed in to your parent account. Open Add a child.
- Choose the child's display name, enter their birthday, and set a password for child sign-in. The child does not need their own email address.
- Read the permission text. Tick the parent/legal guardian checkbox if you agree.
- Select Create account.
2. Parent: save the child's sign-in details
When you see Account created!, keep the sign-in code and the password you just set. Give both to your child. Keep them private.
You can find the child's sign-in code again under Snapshot → Your children in the Parent Dashboard. The code alone is not enough to sign in; the child also needs their password.
3. Child: sign in and learn
Open Under-13 sign in. Enter the code and password from your parent, then select Sign in. Follow the learning choices shown. If you already have courses, continue from your dashboard.
Parent: repeat Add a child for each child under 13. Each child gets their own code and password.
If your learner is aged 13–17
1. Parent: create your account first
Open parent signup on your phone. Check your country, select Next, and create an account with your own email or Google/Meta account. Once you can open the Parent Dashboard, you are ready. If you already have a parent account, simply sign in.
Keep your phone signed in as the parent. Let the learner use a different device or browser profile for the next step. If you share one browser, sign out of the parent account before starting learner signup.
2. Learner: create your separate learner account
Open learner signup. Choose Learner → I'm 13-17, check your country, then select Next. Use your own email or Google/Meta account.
Parent: you can sit with the learner and help, but use the learner's own sign-in details. Add a child in the Parent Dashboard is only for children under 13.
3. Learner: send the permission link to your parent
On Consent Required, select Generate verification code. Share the code or use Copy parent link. Your parent can also scan the QR code on their phone. The verification code expires after 30 minutes.
Pause here while your parent does step 4. The learner cannot continue yet, even if the parent already has an account. The parent must approve this specific learner account.
4. Parent: open the link and give permission
- Open the learner's link on the phone or browser where you use your parent account. If asked, select Sign in and use the parent account from step 1.
- If entering a code manually, open Grant consent, enter the learner's code, and select Review learner. A prefilled link reviews it automatically after sign-in.
- Check the learner's name and email. Make sure this is your child's account.
- Read the permission text and tick the parent/legal guardian checkbox if you agree.
- Select Grant consent for [learner's name]. Wait for Consent granted.
5. Learner: return and finish setup
Return to your learner screen. When it shows Consent granted, select Continue. If it has not updated, select I've asked my parent - check if they verified.
Choose your display name and age, then check or change the suggested grade on the age screen. Select Do this later to finish, or Do this now to share optional details with Lumi and select Save Profile. Follow Start a course to begin learning. Next time, sign in with your own email or the same Google/Meta account.
Already have a learner account?
Keep the existing account so its courses and progress stay together. If the learner is waiting for permission, use Grant consent above.
To connect an existing 13–17 account later:
- Learner: open Profile, find Family connections, and select Create pairing code. Share it with the parent.
- Parent: open Link your learner account (13–17) from Learner tools. Read and tick the guardian checkbox.
- Parent: enter the learner's code, select Review code, check the account shown, then select Connect accounts.
After linking, the parent can view progress and assign courses. The learner keeps the same sign-in. See Payments: who pays? for using a parent's paid plan.
Common mix-ups
- Sharing one device: sign out before switching between parent and learner accounts. Two tabs in the same browser usually share the same sign-in. For teen permission, a parent's phone is often the easiest option.
- The verification code expired: return to the learner account, reload the permission screen if needed, and generate a fresh code. Share the new link.
- Wrong learner shown: stop and ask the learner to check which account they used. Get a fresh code from the correct account.
- Cannot use Add a child for a teen: that form is for under 13. Use the 13–17 signup and permission steps instead.
- Ready to pay: return to the parent account first. Follow the payment steps.
